Q) Who is the company (FreeHand Systems, Inc.) that developed this product?
A) Founded in March of 2001, Los Altos, CA based FreeHand Systems, Inc. is in the business of designing, manufacturing, and delivering unique products and accessories to the music industry. FreeHand began taking orders for its flagship product, the MusicPad Pro, in early 2002 and began shipping its MusicPad Pro in April 2003.

Q) How can I get sheet music I currently own into my MusicPad Pro?
A) Digital music files in pdf, jpg and other popular graphics formats can be directly imported through the FreeHand software into the MusicPad Pro. Printed music can be scanned into your computer and then imported to the MusicPad Pro. Better looking results may be obtained by using OMR software such as Smart Score combined with your scanned music.

Q) Will FreeHand be offering digital sheet music?
A) Yes, visit FreeHandMusic.com. Our digital music store is a great source for over 50,000 scores already formated for the MusicPad Pro.

Q) What music composition software is compatible with the MusicPad Pro?
A) Any composition software that is available for your computer will work. Finale, Sibelius, Encore and Cakewalk are all examples of software that the MusicPad Pro can read. Anything that can be printed on your PC or Mac can be converted to a viewable file for the MusicPad.

Q) Can I increase memory if I do not purchase it initially?
A) Yes. Additional memory can be added via external memory module.

Q) When will my MusicPad Pro be shipped?
A) The MusicPad Pro is currently in stock and shipping within 2-3 business days of ordering. Your credit card account will not be charged until the product is shipped. If you choose our installment payment plan, you will be charged for the first payment when your product shipped and then your credit card account will be charged for each of the payments 30 and 60 days after shipping.

Q) Can I have my MusicPad Pro shipped faster than DHL ground?
A) Yes you can choose to pay for DHL Next Day Air shipping.

Q) When will I be charged for my purchase?
A) Your credit card account will not be charged until the product is shipped. If you choose our installment payment plan, you will be charged for the first payment when your product shipped and then your credit card account will be charged for each of the payments 30 and 60 days after shipping.

Q) How large is the MusicPad Pro?
A) Overall outside dimensions are: 9.9" x 13.3". The screen is a 12.1" diagonal color TFT LCD display.

Q) What happens if I am not completely satisfied with the Music Pad Pro once I receive it?
A) If you are not completely satisfied with your new MusicPad Pro, simply return it to us within 30 days of shipping and we will refund your purchase price to your credit card. You will need to call 1-800-295-7725 for a Return Authorization Number before you ship it back to FreeHand.

Q) Is there a multiple payment option and how does it work?
A) You can divide your purchase into three payments, if you charge your purchase to a credit card. Your first payment will include sales tax and shipping costs (if any). The second and third payments will be charged to your credit card 30 days and 60 days after your product is shipped.

A) There is one model available at this time.

Q) Can I buy the accessories after I get my MusicPad Pro?
A) Yes, the Foot Pedal and other accessories are available as after purchase options. If you want to upgrade the memory after purchase your will need to purchase an external memory module.

Q) What MUST the customer have, other than a desktop or laptop computer system?
A) Nothing else. FreeHand software can run on Windows 98, 2000, ME, XP. It does not support Windows 95 or NT4. It will run on Macintosh OS versions greater than 9.1 and OS X.

Q) Is MusicPad Pro User Friendly?
A) Yes. The software for the PC and Mac is very user friendly and easy to use. The MusicPad Pro is set up for ease of use as well. The icons are very easy to read and it even comes with a help feature on the pad for questions that may arise.

Q) How much does the MusicPad Pro unit weigh?
A) The MusicPad Pro Plus weighs less than 5 pounds.

Q) Is the screen backlit?
A) Yes.

Q) How does the MusicPad Pro connect to my computer?
A) You can connect the unit to your Mac or PC with a USB or and external USB-Ethernet Adapter. The MusicPad Pro offers USB connections and you can attach an external "dongle" to allow Ethernet connectivity.

Q) What about copyright issues with the music publishers?
A) Legally, you are able to make a copy for yourself of the music that you already own. This includes digital copies as well. You are violating the copyright laws when you share or give a copy of your music to someone else. The music you own is for your use only.

Q) Can I make markings and annotations directly on the MusicPad Pro?
A) Yes. There are different colored pens, different line widths, highlighters. All of these can be used to mark in real time right on the touch screen with a stylus or your finger.

Q) Batteries for the Music Pad how long do they last and how long does it take to charge?
A) The batteries in the Music Pad + are not customer serviceable. The batteries are Nickel Hydride, bundled in 2 separate packs. The built in charger on the printed circuit board charges them. After a full charge the batteries will run the Music Pad set at .5 brightness for approximately 4 hrs. Recharging takes a couple or hours. For the first charge we recommend an 8 hr first charge. The power supply for the Music Pad is all that is needed to run and charge the Music Pad.
