MusicPad
Pro® Makes NBC Debut as Part of New Talent Show:
FreeHand
Systems’ MusicPads Hit the Right Note with The
Singing Bee!
“This truly is the iPod and iTunes for musicians!” – Phil
Ramone
New
York, NY, July 11, 2007 – FreeHand Systems’ MusicPad
Pro® Plus – the world’s only digital sheet music
reader – features prominently in NBC’s new show, “The
Singing Bee,” which debuted July
10th, 9:30 PM (EDT & PDT) and will air throughout the summer. Hosted by Joey
Fatone,
The Singing Bee’s entire eight piece band will perform with
MusicPad Pro Plus, the revolutionary digital music pad, developed
by FreeHand Systems, which is redefining the usage, storage and
distribution of sheet music.
Says The Singing
Bee’s Musical Director, Ray Chew, “The
MusicPad really helps us easily navigate our music notes for the
over 40 song clips we need to nail each show. ”
The MusicPad
Pro Plus is the world’s only music performance
computer tablet. The pad can store literally a limitless number
of pages – creating a paperless music library with zero clutter.
The environmentally friendly pad is slightly bigger than an actual
sheet of music (13.3" x 9.9" x 1.8", just over 4
lbs.) and is able to annotate each sheet with rehearsal notes.
The pad contains a zoom-in/zoom-out feature, an extensive library
of notation symbols, a half-page turn option (for look-ahead viewing
in portrait mode) as well as a back-lit device (making external
stand lighting unnecessary).
The accompanying website to MusicPad Pro is freehandmusic.com.
With over 90,000 titles in its catalog, users can digitally download
written music to print or transfer it directly to the MusicPad
Pro. With freehandmusic.com, consumers will never again need to
wait weeks for deliveries or make time to scour retail stores searching
for obscure titles. Prices range from $1.95 for a simple one-page
lead sheet to over $50 for a full performing score and parts.
Kim
Lorz,
CEO of FreeHand Systems says: “It is great that
musicians are finally getting the opportunity to be able to read
their music charts electronically and change songs with one touch.
We are confident that more and more bands on TV shows will adopt
our Music Pad and make for easier performances.”
The reception of Freehand Systems among professional musicians
has created an impressive list of early adopters, including Herbie
Hancock, Sting, Jon Anderson, Prince, Michael Nesmith, Andy Summers, along with performance groups around the globe.
The Singing Bee
is a variety-competition show that challenges contestants to accurately
sing the lyrics to popular songs -- even when the band stops playing.
In this karaoke showdown, there’s no middle
ground for partially correct answers -- contestants must be perfect
or they're out. The Singing Bee features popular, recognizable music
that inspires hilarious wrong answers and amazing performances by
those rare contestants who somehow manage to get every word right.
Produced by the Gurin Company and Juma Entertainment, LLC, the executive
producers are Phil Gurin (NBC's "Miss Universe" franchise)
and Robert C. Horowitz ("Super Bowl's Greatest Commercials Top
40 Countdown").
FreeHand Systems,
Inc. (www.freehandsystems.com), a wholly owned subsidiary of
FreeHand Systems International, Inc. (FSYI), is the global leader
in digital sheet music publishing and is the manufacturer of
the first digital music performance and education tablet, the
MusicPad Pro® Plus.
