SPECIAL
PRICING PROGRAM ANNOUNCED FOR MUSIC TEACHERS WHO PURCHASE THE MUSICPAD
PRO, WORLD’S FIRST DIGITAL SHEET MUSIC PERSONAL COMPUTER TABLET
Freehand
Systems announces special discount program for music teachers, schools,
colleges and universities.
The
MusicPad Pro promises to be an indispensable tool in helping students
learn how to read and perform music.
LOS
ALTOS, Calif. – March 17, 2003 – Freehand Systems, Inc.,
a privately-held company with the mission of reinventing how musicians
read and perform music, announced today that it will offer music
teachers a five percent discount on the purchase of the MusicPad
Pro™, the world’s first digital sheet music computer
tablet. Schools, colleges and universities will receive a ten percent
discount on purchases of five or more devices. The announcement
was made today at the annual meeting of the Music Teachers National
Association in Salt Lake City.
"Offering
a special pricing program to teachers, schools and universities
makes great sense because it puts the MusicPad in the hands of students
acquiring a love of music and those who make their living teaching
it,” says Dana Schroeder, vice president of sales for Freehand
Systems. “In fact, music teachers are discovering the MusicPad
Pro to be an indispensable music education tool.
“First,
Freehand’s proprietary annotation technology provides an interactive
teaching environment unlike any device on the market today. It enables
music teachers to mark up compositions and write reference notes
as they teach, while saving the original score,” says Schroeder.
“Secondly, the MusicPad Pro solves the age old problem of
turning music pages by enabling students to simply touch the screen.
And it creates a paperless environment by providing storage capacity
for an entire music library of more than 5,000 pages of sheet music.”
“The
MusicPad Pro was conceived, designed and built by musicians, and
that explains why music teachers are so excited about it,”
said Kim Lorz, Freehand Systems’ CEO. “Quite simply,
it makes teaching music much easier, learning music more enjoyable
and performing music more fun. There’s nothing like it anywhere
in the world.”
The
sleek new tablet computer is housed in a charcoal grey ABS polymer
enclosure not much larger than a sheet of paper. Weighing just under
five pounds, it is lightweight and easy to carry, although the MusicPad
Pro Plus™, which comes with a rechargeable battery, weighs
a little more. Without the discounts, suggested retail price for
the MusicPad Pro is just $999. The MusicPad Pro Plus, with a battery
life of three hours on a single charge, is $1,199.
Both
models have an easy-to-read, low glare, backlit 12.1 in. TFT LCD
display. Key features include zoom in and zoom out capabilities
and on-screen color highlighters and pens to add or erase rehearsal
marks and notations. Digital music files in pdf, jpg and other popular
graphics formats can be directly imported into the MusicPad Pro
using the software provided with the device. Printed music can be
scanned into a computer and then imported.
As
part of the Freehand Music Management System, Freehand’s website
(www.freehandsystems.com)
provides over 17,000 music compositions and digital files. Customer
support and access to an on-line store to buy Freehand products
are also on the website.
