PRODUCT KEYS

A product key is printed on a sticker and included with your MusicPad Pro.
The Windows installer requires that you enter the product key found on this
sticker. If a product key sticker was not included with your MusicPad Pro
please call FreeHand Technical Support at 1-800-917-1949 or send email to
support@freehandsystems.com. If you send email, please include the serial
number of your MusicPad Pro.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Operating System
----------------
-Windows: Windows 98 SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Windows XP, or
-Macintosh: Mac OS 9.2 (or higher) or
            Mac OS X v 10.2 (or higher) or 10.3.2 (or higher)
            (note: Mac OS X v 10.3.1 is not supported)

Hardware
--------
-Windows: at least a Pentium II (or equivalent) processor
-64 MB RAM (minimum)
-50 MB available hard disk space
-XGA display with minimum settings of 1024x768 pixels, 16-bit color
-CD-ROM drive (if installing the software from a CD)

UPGRADE OVERVIEW

These upgrade instructions contain information about:

-Installing or upgrading MusicPad Manager on your PC or Mac.

-Upgrading the software on your MusicPad Pro.

You must do both upgrades to ensure that your MusicPad Pro operates with
your computer.

 WINDOWS: Installing or Upgrading MusicPad Pro Manager on your PC
------------------------------------------------------------------

 If you downloaded the software from the Internet:
 -------------------------------------------------

   1. Navigate to the directory to which you downloaded the self-extracting
     ZIP file MusicPad_3_1_3.exe. Double-click this file. A "WinZip
     Self-Extractor" dialog will appear. Simply click "Unzip". Then the
     InstallShield Wizard is displayed.

   2. Skip to step 3 of the section "If you have a CD" below.

 If you have a CD:
 -----------------

   1. Place the FreeHand Systems CD in your CD-drive. The FreeHand MusicPad
     Manager installation dialog is displayed. (If the dialog does not
     appear after about 30 seconds, you will need to start the installer
     yourself. Choose "Run..." from the Start Menu. Type "D:/Setup.exe"
     without the quotation marks in the Run dialog and hit the Enter key or
     click OK. Then skip to step 3.)
   
   2. Click on "Install/Uninstall MusicPad Manager". The InstallShield
     Wizard is displayed.
   
   3. If the installer detects a previous version of MusicPad Manager, it
     asks if you want to uninstall the old version.  Click "Yes".
   
   4. Continue following the on-screen prompts.
     NOTE: You will be prompted for a product key. If a sticker containing
           the product key was not included with your MusicPad Pro please
           call FreeHand Technical Support at 1-800-917-1949 or send email
           to support@freehandsystems.com. If you send email, please include
           the serial number of your MusicPad Pro.
   
   5. When the installation is completed, your computer may automatically be
      rebooted to finish the installation.  When it restarts, the installer
      may automatically start up again to finish the installation.
   
   6. Go to the section "Upgrading the Software on Your MusicPad Pro" for
     instructions to upgrade the software on your MusicPad Pro.

 MACINTOSH: Installing or Upgrading MusicPad Pro Manager on your Mac
---------------------------------------------------------------------

 If you downloaded the software from the Internet:
 -------------------------------------------------

   1. Navigate to the directory containing the MusicPad Manager Installer
    StuffIt file. (The file name will be similar to
    "MusicManager_3_1_3.sit".)

   2. Skip to step 3 of the section "If you have a CD" below.

 If you have a CD:
 -----------------

   1. Place the FreeHand Systems CD in your CD-drive. 

   2. Drag the MusicPad Manager Installer StuffIt(TM) file from the CD to your
    local drive.

   3. Double-click the MusicPad Manager Installer StuffIt file. It will be
     unstuffed and the "MusicPad Manager Installer" Vise file will be
     created in the same folder.

   4. Double click the Vise file.

   5. Follow the on-screen prompts.

 Upgrading the Software on Your MusicPad Pro
---------------------------------------------

   The instructions for upgrading the software on your MusicPad are
   contained in the README file on your computer (installed with MusicPad
   Manager). If you installed MusicPad Manager from CD, you can also find
   the README file on your installation CD. Otherwise, to find the README
   file on your computer:

   Windows: From the Start Menu, choose:
            "Programs\FreeHand Systems\MusicPad Manager\Readme"

   Macintosh: The README file is in the folder:
              "Applications/FreeHand Systems/MusicPad Manager/"
