It is highly recommended that you back up the musical scores on your MusicPad Pro tablet before running the upgrade. ********** IMPORTANT: ********** Your pad must be running 4.0.6, 4.0.9 Beta, or 4.0.10 in order to upgrade to 4.0.11. If it is not, you will need to contact FreeHand Systems support to obtain information on having your MusicPad upgraded. Revision A and Revision B MusicPad Pro tablets cannot be upgraded. These tablets do not have an audio out jack on them. If the USB connection is lost during your pad upgrade, you will need to unplug and plug back in your USB cable to the pad and continue the upgrade. We highly recommend that you NOT upgrade over a wireless device. Macintosh and Windows PC Users: Launch the MusicPad Manager application and be sure your chosen method of connection to the pad is working correctly. To do this, first be sure your pad is plugged in. Then select "File Manager" from either the Tools menu or from the Tools icon (the wrench) from the main tool bar. Select the MusicPad Pro tablet you wish to upgrade in the "Available MusicPads" dialog. (It may be the only choice.) If your MusicPad Pro tablet is not displayed there, it is probably not correctly connected. After you select your MusicPad Pro tablet, the File Manager dialog opens showing files and folders in each window pane. If they do not appear, you need to troubleshoot your connection by referring to the Networking chapter in the User's Guide. Close the File Manager dialog and then select "Install MusicPad Upgrade..." from the Tools menu. A dialog opens asking for the location of the MusicPad upgrade file. The one you want is called "MusicPad Upgrade 4.0.11.fhu". Choose this file and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the upgrade of your MusicPad Pro tablet. The upgrade process should take between five and ten minutes and occurs in two stages, including two reboots of the MusicPad Pro tablet. The upgrade from Macintosh systems can take longer in some cases. ========================================== Premium Tools Upgrade ========================================== In release 4.0.11 there is an option to upgrade to premium tools. This option sells for approximately $50 and is activated on both the MusicPad Manager and the MusicPad Pro tablet by selecting Tools->Upgrade To Premium Tools. Once this is selected you will be prompted for a 25 digit alphanumeric code. When you enter the code correctly the Premium tools support will be enabled. See below for the feature details for Premium Tools. ================================================ Scores Purchased From FreeHand Music ================================================ Any scores that you previously purchased from FreeHand Music using the 3.1.x software will continue to work, but you might find that you would prefer to have the new version of the scores that allows transposition and MIDI playback. If you do, please call or email FreeHand's technical support and request another print right. ========================================== NEW FEATURES IN RELEASE 4.0.11: ========================================== -Macintosh: Support for Leopard (Mac OS 10.5.x) ========================================== BUG FIXES IN RELEASE 4.0.11: ========================================== -Macintosh: If you type the incorrect password in the first password dialog of the FreeHand printer install this caused the printer to not install properly. You should use the one that best suits your needs (usually one of the MusicPad Pro choices). 4) A new scaling algorithm has been added. It is marked as "smooth scaling". This algorithm tends to work better with scores that have been scanned or have bar lines, score lines, or note stems that are thicker than 1 pixel. You can find this ID on the product box. One is WL-545. The other is WL-547. The device with the WL-547 ID also has a RoHS compliant symbol on it. The WL-547 device interacts with an errata on the CPU chip and can create system hangs. To work around this ALWAYS plug a device with the WL-547 ID into a USB hub instead of plugging it directly into the MusicPad Pro. ========================================== BUG FIXES IN RELEASE 4.0.10: ========================================== -MusicPad Pro: The non-functional equalizer has been removed from the audio player.
